About the Lorem Ipsum
Generates placeholder text by the word, sentence or paragraph, so you can fill a layout and see how it behaves before the real copy exists. The text is deliberately meaningless, which keeps attention on the design rather than on what it says.
When you would use it
- Checking how a design behaves with text of a realistic length.
- Filling a template or a mockup.
- Testing text wrapping and overflow.
What it does not tell you
Placeholder text flatters a design: it has an even texture that real copy never has, no long words, no awkward names, and no headings that run to three lines. Test with realistic content before believing a layout works. Placeholder text also has a habit of shipping to production — search for it before you launch.
